• The Hassan II Mosque, located on the coast of Casablanca, is the largest mosque in Morocco and Africa, and it has the tallest minaret in the world.
• After a one-hour drive to the grand Islamic mausoleum in Rabat, you’ll discover a remarkable monument built between 1961 and 1971, following the death of King Mohammed V in 1961. Designed by Vietnamese architect Nguyen Viet Thu and crafted by skilled Moroccan artisans, the mausoleum showcases stunning Islamic architecture and intricate marble work. Inside, the tombs, made of white onyx, rest beneath a magnificent dome, creating a serene and awe-inspiring atmosphere.
• We will arrive at a grand palace built in 1864 during the reign of Sultan Mohammed IV, which serves as the official residence of the King of Morocco. The palace is a stunning example of traditional Moroccan architecture, adorned with ornate ironwork and intricate tilework. While entry to the palace is not permitted, visitors can admire its impressive exterior and enjoy the surrounding gardens. This iconic landmark remains a significant cultural and historical site in Rabat.
• The Hassan Tower, an iconic symbol of Rabat, is a striking minaret that was begun in the 12th century during the reign of Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour. Originally intended to be the tallest minaret in the world, construction halted after the sultan’s death, leaving the tower unfinished at 44 meters instead of the planned 80. Despite its incomplete state, the Hassan Tower remains a masterpiece of Almohad architecture, with intricate stone carvings and a commanding presence overlooking the city. Visitors can explore the surrounding esplanade, which also includes the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, making this area a key historical and cultural site in Rabat.
• The Chellah is an ancient fortified complex located on the outskirts of Rabat, offering a fascinating glimpse into the city’s rich history. Originally a Phoenician and Roman settlement, it later became a medieval necropolis under the Merinid dynasty in the 14th century. Today, the site features crumbling walls, ancient Roman ruins, and Islamic tombs surrounded by lush gardens. Visitors can explore the serene grounds, where storks nest among the ruins, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while uncovering layers of history that make the Chellah a captivating cultural landmark.
• This historic fortification, dating back to the 12th century, is constructed from sandstone and reinforced with bastions, gates, and towers. Enclosing Rabat's old city, these ancient walls offer visitors the chance to walk along them and take in panoramic views of the Medina and the surrounding area. • The Kasbah of the Udayas is a picturesque fortress located at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River in Rabat. Built in the 12th century under the Almohad dynasty, this historic kasbah features narrow, winding streets lined with white and blue-painted houses, reflecting Andalusian influence. Visitors can explore its peaceful Andalusian gardens, admire the grand gateway known as Bab Oudaia, and enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the neighboring city of Salé.
