ITINERARY
- If you don't have the time or desire to make this big trip there are other desert tours from Marrakech. Not a lot of people know about the nearby Agafay Desert just outside Marrakech. While you won't find the golden, rolling sand dunes here (it's a stone desert) you absolutely can have the secluded desert experience complete with a stunning view of the High Atlas Mountains,
- Ride a horse through the Moroccan countryside on a 4-hour tour from Marrakech to La Palmeraie or Lalla Takerkoust. Choose La Palmerie and ride through rustling palm groves and olive trees, explore the rocky desert landscape and pause for tea in a Berber village. Head for Lalla Takerkoust for to navigate the arid foothills of the Atlas Mountains; pass shepherds and isolated communities, and pause to swim in a cool lake. Dine on traditional Moroccan fare at a local restaurant before returning to your Marrakech hotel.
