• Your guide and private van will be waiting for you at your hotel. The Tour commences with a visit to the Göreme Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases numerous rock-cut churches and monasteries. Marvel at the stunning frescoes and intricate carvings that date back to the Byzantine era and learn about the region's rich cultural and religious history. • The Cappadocia region boasts around 150-200 underground settlements of various sizes, constituting a valuable cultural heritage. This number is expected to grow, as many rock settlements are present in all towns and villages across the area. Most of these settlements were made by carving into soft tuff, forming deep caves. The primary motivation for building these underground cities was to ensure the safety of their inhabitants. The extensive networks of interconnected rooms and galleries, often called labyrinths, were designed to restrict the movement of potential invaders. Observe local artisans at work and even try your hand at creating your own pottery to bring home as a memorable souvenir. Then you will have the opportunity to discover and understand the rich history behind local handicrafts such us hand made carpets, Turkish tiles, onyx and potteries.
• Uchisar Castle, a towering fortress carved into the rock that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Take in the awe-inspiring scenery and learn about the castle's significance in Cappadocian history.
• Pigeon Valley showcases a mesmerizing sight with numerous pigeon houses skillfully carved into the rocky formations. The landscape itself presents a surreal and eccentric ambiance reminiscent of Salvador Dali's paintings, featuring outrageously phallic structures. These distinctive conical formations are the outcome of ancient volcanic eruptions that occurred millions of years ago. Over countless ages, the combined forces of wind, rain, and other natural elements have eroded the volcanic rock, resulting in the formation of soft and pliable stone called tufa. Within these peculiar cones, often referred to as fairy chimneys, one can discover caves and intricate labyrinths.
• Ortahisar, located in Cappadocia, is a captivating viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. It is renowned for its impressive rock formation, known as Ortahisar Castle, which dominates the area. This natural fortress-like structure, carved into a massive rock formation, stands as a symbol of the region's rich history and unique geological features. From the top of Ortahisar Castle, visitors can enjoy stunning vistas of the surreal rock formations, picturesque valleys, and charming villages that make up the Cappadocia region.
