ITINERARY
- For this tour, we pick you up from your hotel around 08:30 (Your pick-up time may vary depending on the location of your hotel) and head towards Kalkan. We arrive in Kalkan approximately 1.5 hours later.
- Kalkan will be our first stop after leaving Fethiye. We will stay here for about 15 minutes and you will have the opportunity to take amazing photos. Kalkan, It is an important tourist destination on the Mediterranean coast. The area includes historical sites (such as Tlos and Kekova) and fine beaches (including Patara Beach and Kaputaş Beach). Kalkan is an old fishing town, and the only safe harbour between Kaş and Fethiye; it is known for its white-washed houses, descending to the sea, and its brightly coloured bougainvilleas. It averages 300 days of sunshine a year. The word "Kalkan" in Turkish either means shield or turbot referring to the town's fishing status. Until the early 1920s, nearly all of its inhabitants were Greeks and the town was called Kalamaki. Although part of the Antalya province administratively, Kalkan is connected more closely to Fethiye economically and for transportation.
- After a short break in Kalkan, we continue on our way and after about 50 minutes of travel we arrive in Kaş. Here you will have the opportunity to tour the city and do some shopping. We give our lunch break (about 1 hour) in Kaş.
- After our visit to Kaş, we arrive at the most beautiful spot of our day; Kaputaş Beach, where you will be amazed and we take our first swimming break (approximately 45 minutes). It is not mandatory to buy an umbrella and a sunbed on the beach. You can spread your own towel on the beach and sunbathe. 1 umbrella and two sunbeds are around 10€.
- Our second swimming break will be Patara Beach, which is located near the ancient city of Patara and is one of the largest beaches in the region. It is not mandatory to buy an umbrella and a sunbed on the beach. You can spread your own towel on the beach and sunbathe. 1 umbrella and two sunbeds are around 10€. Patara beach is longer than the surrounding beaches. The depth of the 18 km long beach reaches 200-300 meters in places. The sand is fine and the sea is shallow. It is also suitable for windsurfing due to its almost constant wind. Patara beach is protected because it is among the places where sea turtles (Caretta caretta) lay their eggs. Barriers have been built to prevent the sand dunes carried by the wind from Patara beach to the ancient city.
- During the swimming break at Patara beach, our guests who wish can visit the ancient city of Patara by their own means (without a guide) by paying approximately 15€ at the ticket office. Our guide will inform you about the meeting time and point of the bus. Patara is a Lycian city near the Kalkan town of Kas district of Antalya and was the capital of the Lycian League. The Lycian League meetings were held in the council building of the league located in the city. It is known to be among the cities besieged by Alexander. Patara was also a very important city during the Roman period and was the capital of the Lycian-Pamphilian states. Patara harbor was important in terms of grain storage and transportation, one of the 3 important grain storages (Granarium) in the Eastern Mediterranean is located in Patara. The city, which continued to develop during the Byzantine period, was considered important by Christians. It is said that Saint Nicholas, known as Santa Claus, was also from Patara.
