• Ephesus was an ancient city located in present-day Turkey, near the modern town of Selçuk. It was one of the most prominent cities in the Roman Empire and an important center of commerce, culture, and religion.
• The Odeion, also known as the Odeum or Bouleuterion, was a small roofed theater-like structure located in the heart of Ephesus. It served as a venue for musical performances, concerts, and small-scale theatrical productions. The Odeion could accommodate around 1,500 spectators and was primarily used for meetings of the city council (boule) and other administrative functions.
• The Fountain of Trajan, also known as the Trajan's Fountain, was a monumental fountain located on the upper terrace of the Celsus Library in Ephesus. It was built to commemorate the Roman Emperor Trajan's visit to the city in the 2nd century AD. The fountain featured an impressive facade adorned with elaborate carvings and statues, and it served as a gathering place for locals and tourists.
• The Library of Celsus was one of the most famous and impressive structures in ancient Ephesus. It was a monumental Roman-style library built in the 2nd century AD by the Roman consul Gaius Julius Aquila in honor of his father, Celsus Polemaeanus. The library housed a vast collection of scrolls and served as a mausoleum for Celsus, whose sarcophagus was placed in a niche inside. The facade of the library was adorned with ornate carvings and statues, making it a remarkable example of Roman architecture.
• Priene was an ancient Greek city located on the slopes of Mount Mycale, overlooking the plains of the Meander River. The city was founded in the 4th century BC and was designed by the famous architect Hippodamus of Miletus. One of the distinguishing features of Priene was its well-planned grid-like street layout, which was considered an early example of city planning.
• The city was famous for its philosophers, thinkers, and mathematicians, including Thales, Anaximander, and Anaximenes, who were known as the Milesian School. Miletus was also a significant cultural and religious center, with notable structures like the Sanctuary of Apollo Delphinios and the Delphinium, dedicated to the god Apollo.
• The temple was colossal, with over a hundred massive columns and a vast courtyard. Construction of the temple began in the 8th century BC, but it underwent several expansions and renovations over the centuries. The most famous oracle at Didyma was the renowned oracle of Apollo, where pilgrims sought guidance and prophecies from the god.
