ITINERARY
- This old synagogue was constructed in the 3rd century A.D. The main archaeological discovery in the excavations in Sardis. It's one of Anatolia 's oldest synagogues. The large ruins here also contain lovely mosaic tiles. Sardis is also one o the Seven Churches of Revelation in the Bible. The ruins of ancient Sart (Sardis), once the capital of the Lydian realm of Croesus, lie on the Sart Cayi (Pactole River). Here the first coins were minted. The Temple of Artemis and a restored gymnasium testify to the city's past splendour, as does the important third-century A.D synagogue. Just stunning.
